2.  Scriptures

But THE LORD WAS PLEASED TO CRUSH HIM, putting Him to grief.  My Servant, will justify the many, as He will bear their iniquities. Because He poured out Himself to death, and was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, and interceded for the transgressors" (Isaiah 53:10-12)

"The Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:6)

The Lord Jesus Christ alone was able to "purchase men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation" by His "blood" (Revelation 5:3-9).  He "tasted death for everyone" (Hebrews 2:9).  While he paid for everyone’s sin, past, present and future, not everyone really cares about that.  In fact, few do.  Everyone is welcome to believe that he died for their sins, and be forgiven of them, but few will believe.  He calls the few that really believe his “sheep”.

"I lay down my life for the sheep. T
he reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life-only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father" (John 10:15, 17-18)

3.  Explanation

No one can kill the Father, but we killed his Son.  When he died on the cross, he died for all sins: past, present, and future.  That includes yours and mine.  You killed Christ.  I killed Christ.  We are not done sinning yet either, not until our dying days. When we sin, we kill Christ.  He died for our sins as an eternal God-man:  100% God, and 100% man.  God is eternal, he WAS before time began.  He created time.  He is outside of time.  When he became a man, Jesus Christ, he entered our time and space.  So his death is historical, as Jesus was 100% man.  However, it was also eternal—outside of time—since He was 100% God.  So he not only died for past sins, but for future sins.  That includes our future sins.  God knows the future, and He knows that you can change it.  You can choose to

a.      sin, or

b.      obey his word (laws).

If you really believe that he died for your sins, you would not want to keep killing Him by sinning.  You would want to find out what sin is, and avoid it.  You would want to obey Him, instead of hurting Him. This is true believing

. This obedient type of trusting and obeying is the belief that God requires:

John 6
28Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"
29Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to
believe in the one he has sent."

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[ 3:16 Or his only begotten Son] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(Whole Chapter: John 3 In context: John 3:15-17)

If you do not truly believe that Jesus died for your sins, then your sins remain in you. If you believed, they would be removed from you, and placed upon a dying Christ:  He would die in YOUR sins.  When you refuse to believe this offer, you die in your own sins:

John 8:24
I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am ,[ 8:24 Or I am he; also in verse 28] you will indeed die in your sins."
(Whole Chapter: John 8 In context: John 8:23-25)

Dying in your own sins means that you will perish in Hell.  God is not going to let any sin in Heaven’s door.

John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."[ 3:36 Some interpreters end the quotation after verse 30.]
(Whole Chapter: John 3 In context: John 3:35-37)

On the cross, and elsewhere, God went through a lot of trouble to remove your sins from you, and give you to power not to heap up more sin.  Be thankful for this.  Ask the Father to send His Holy Spirit to help you obey Him in Jesus name.  He will help you.
